The Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto is the only way to guarantee yourself a shiny Ditto, however, you'll give yourself the best opportunity to catch one by following the other steps. Unfortunately, they aren't particularly common to encounter in this fashion. With some clarifications from Niantic, wed be happy to share. You can hunt down Ditto that are disguised as other Pokemon throughout the game. With Shiny Ditto first released in Pokmon GO, there is some confusion over how it will work. The final method is arguably the trickiest and involves the most luck. These can be earned by completing a Research Task that can be obtained from a Pokestop or once a day, automatically from Niantic. To do so, you will need to earn 28 stamps through the course of September, one each day. Provided you time things correctly, you can earn four or five encounters with Ditto through this method. Secondly, Ditto will be available as September's featured Research Breakthrough Pokemon. The first method is to simply complete the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto Research if, like myself, you've not done that yet.

SPECIAL RESEARCH: So, clearing up a bit of confusion I saw online first.This way, no one gets the bummer of a Shiny catch turning into a regular Ditto, and the problem of Shiny Ditto's role in the Kanto Tour, which seems to only feature Kanto spawns, is resolved. What if Niantic can find a way that Ditto, newly Shiny-capable, will be able to disguise itself as a regular Pikachu. Pokemon Go released Ditto, the Transform Pokemon in November 2016.Ditto disguises itself as other Pokemon, more commonly as ones that are shown to frequent on a monthly basis. A NEW MECHANIC: Perhaps Niantic can pull off a more complicated mechanic than they currently use, locking Shiny Ditto not to non-Shiny-capable species, but rather specifically non-Shiny encounters.How can Ditto hide out as any of them if they're all able to be Shiny? The only problem here is that Ditto is going to be featured in its Shiny Form during the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto, which will flood the game with Kanto species, making all of them Shiny-capable. So essentially, perhaps a Shiny Ditto can hide as a non-Shiny Pokémon.
It may only be encounterable through non-Shiny encounters and then, when you cut to the "Oh…?" screen that leads to the Ditto reveal, then you may have a Shiny Ditto. THE SAME AS BEFORE: So, there's a chance that Ditto encounters won't change.So, now that Ditto can be Shiny, how will it spawn? Here are some ideas. This was added to the game to avoid the disappointment of catching a rare Shiny Pokémon only for it to transform into a non-Shiny Ditto. Niantic has made it so only a select group of species, all of them non-Shiny capable species, can become Ditto in Pokémon GO.
However, Ditto can't currently appear as every species. It first debuted in the popular AR title through the GO Tour. Instead of the usual light-purple hue, shiny Ditto has a light blue color. For example, a Hoothoot you've just caught may surprise you by transforming into a Ditto after the Poké Ball shakes for the final time. The shiny variant of Ditto is available in Pokemon GO. Currently, Ditto is caught by catching species in which Ditto is posing as on the map.
